Today more than ever, the shift of the physical world to the Internet represents a central challenge. Transactions in the online world involve a high degree of anonymity. To ensure the unique identification of a natural person in the digital world, reliable technology is essential. The transformation process can be supported by the use of biometrics. This form of technology has evolved greatly in recent years and offers a higher level of security than other conventional identification methods. Here, the process is supported by the WL ID Center solution in a highly secure manner.

With WL ID Center, personal information of natural persons can be transferred to a digital image. In doing so, a digital identity is created for each specific purpose and, in view of the GDPR, the disclosure of personal data is minimized. WL ID Center is a centralized authentication service (so-called identity provider) that uniquely transfers a user's natural identity to their online user account in a matter of seconds. For this purpose, WL ID Center uses biometric features, ID tokens (FIDO2 tokens and smart cards) or a combination of both. Authentication using one-time passwords is also possible. WL ID Center can be combined with WL Trusted Authentication offerings, such as a highly secure smartphone app based on a digital identity with strong authentication. Thanks to a strong but easy-to-use authentication method, any ambiguity and identity forgery on the Internet is prevented and a more secure, fast and easy transaction is enabled. One physical identity can be represented into multiple digital identities. Thus, only a minimum of information is shared within the online world. This has the advantage that, for example, patient health data is only shared with the insurance company, while the banking institution only receives the data for processing online transactions. At the same time, WL ID Center can be used holistically as a leader in managing identities in an ecosystem.
